Junior Leadership Team
Our pupils will be our future leaders!
What is a Junior Leadership Team?
Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) is a group of students who are elected to represent the views of all pupils and work together to improve our school. We follow a democratic process to elect the members. If pupils wish to become a member, they must complete a short manifesto expressing why they feel they will be an excellent member of the team and ways they will ensure the best outcomes for pupils at Freehold. They then present their views to their class and a confidential vote takes place. JLT members must model our School rules and Values at all times and should be role models for the rest of the school.
What do the Junior Leadership Team do?
The Junior Leadership Team meet at least twice every half term and discuss issues that are important to the children. They are also involved in gathering pupil voice, completing learning walks and monitoring. They provide a unique insight into what is working well in the school and ways that adults can improve the provision at Freehold for the children.
The Junior Leadership Team also meet with the governing body and Senior Leadership Team to share their work with them. They have an input into the monitoring of the impact of the changes and improvements across the school.
Who are the Junior Leadership Team?
At Freehold, we have two representatives for each year group from Year 2 to 6, that form our Junior Leadership Team. They also gather pupil voice for Early Years and Year 1 by talking to the pupils in those year groups. The newly elected JLT for this year delivered an assembly in the first half term, to introduce themselves as trustworthy members of the school community that other child can go to for help, support and to share ideas. Please see the assembly information they delivered below.

How does the JLT support our school?
The JLT supports school in many ways, such as, leading assemblies, meeting with visitors, representing the school at events, supporting charities and much, much, more. Watch this space to see some of our work as this will be updated throughout the year.

Newsletters
The Junior Leadership Team have been working on publishing their very first newsletter this term and led an assembly to share this with their fellow pupils. They also came up with a choice of names for the newsletter and each child had a vote to say which one they preferred. The winning name was...Freehold Flash! Please see them presenting in assembly and read their very first newsletter below.

Supporting positive change
Mrs. Maher had a challenge for the Junior Leadership Team in Spring Term to think about how we can encourage our pupils to eat more of their lunch each day. They carried out some pupil voice to find out what our pupils love about lunch, what they don't like and what would encourage them to eat more. Then they met to make some plans. They presented their actions to the whole school in assembly. Please see the presentation below for more information about what they plan to do to help.
